The Nightingale Tribute

Remembering a Nurse At the April Quarterly Meeting

A tribute to any Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse for their years of service; to be presented during the nurse's funeral by a nurse colleague or friend.

Nursing is a calling, a lifestyle, a way of living. Nurses here today honor our colleagues who are no longer with us and their life as a nurse. Each name is followed by year of passing. They are not remembered by their years as a nurse, but by the difference each one made during those years by stepping into people’s lives, by special moments.

Jo White 2014 by Glenna Herren

Polly Keenan 2013 by Carolyn Smith

Lynn Bowen 2008 by Maria Avers

Edith LaDoris Ball 2006 by Angel Johnson

(Each person’s name is called in turn. An FCNA OK member steps forward, collects a rose from the vase and, if desired, offers personal comments and then says:)

"Nursing is a calling, a lifestyle, a way of living. Nurses here today honor our colleague _______ who is no longer with us and their life as a nurse. _______ is not remembered by his/her years as a nurse, but by the difference he/she made during those years by stepping into people’s lives, by special moments."

Marilyn, Jo, Monica, Polly, Lynn and La Doris, we honor you this day. We remember you with these white roses and light this candle to symbolize our honor and appreciation for being our nurse colleague.
