Preparing to write the newsletter I began reflecting on this last year and recalling when I took this position in March 2002. As I thought about the course of events over the last five years I became very aware of the many blessings that Faith Community Nurses have brought to my life. One of the first thoughts that comes to mind are the relationships and friendships that I have acquired. These are the most incredible blessings! And then the uniqueness of each nurse:
-
•Each nurse I have met has given me new insights into the ministry.
-
•Each nurse has unique gifts that she brings to the ministry which she graciously shares.
-
•Each nurse brings a joy and caring to those they minister— as well to me.
-
•Each nurse brings a spiritual dimension to the practice and to those they serve.
I smile when I think about the twinkle in their eyes and their smiles as the nurses describe their practices. “I just love this Faith Community Nursing practice”, exclaims Barbara Wilson each time we talk about her ministry. I have witnessed this enthusiasm in so many of our Oklahoma Faith Community Nurses. I tell my friends that this group of nurses are the most nurturing and spiritually nourishing people I have ever met. What a treat to be nurtured every once in awhile. I feel so blessed to be part of this practice and to have met so many wonderful nurse friends. The FCNA has changed and grown into a strong and thriving organization over the last five years. The sky will be the limit as to what the Oklahoma Faith Community Nurses can accomplish in the next five years!
Mercy is committed to continue providing support, assistance, and resources to you and your ministries. God Bless each of you in the New Year and thank you for being a blessing in my life.
